Dr. Cavalea began his medical career as an EMT-Basic working for private ambulance companies in Chicago before attending Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in Chicago for medical school (2014), He finished general surgery residency at University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine in Knoxville (2019) and trauma/critical care fellowship at LSUHSC New Orleans. He then returned to Knoxville to begin his practice at UT Medical Center.

In his free time he enjoys spending time with his wife and kids (3 and 1), hunting, fishing, and working on cars/trucks.
